Product Deadline

Haven't written in a couple of weeks, I know. I did a lot of work over Semester Break (and I mean a lot) over at United. But I'm back!

"Now where did I put that motivation again?" It seems like every time I turn around I've lost it. That, or inspiration. Really, you've gotta have both in order to write. Right now, I don't precisely have either. But I do have this amazing thing called a deadline. I've rarely had the chance to experience that "procrastinate-until-close-to-the-deadline" thing that seems to be a correlation amongst writers, except for when I've had an entry deadline to beat in order to turn in a short-story to a contest. That could possibly be because I've never had a contract with anyone (yet). *cough*

However, the moment school started up for the second semester this year, my PRO class teacher pretty much hammered into our high school senior minds that May is not as far away as it seems, so we have got get our products finished before May 13th. I intend to write a synopsis for one of my novels and a mock up query letter to go with it. That shouldn't be too particularly hard, but I know myself, so I've already foreseen that I'd procrastinate up until about March or April before I really started getting down and dirty with it.

But! I've caught myself in time this deadline go around, so I plan to get started ASAP (tonight if possible!) and am very excited. Deadlines are very good motivators.

  1. You can do it, Summer! Bring your work with you to our meetings on Tuesdays! I'm under a deadline for my edits now, too, so we will be doing lots of writing on our own projects after we talk a bit! I'm excited for you. You're going to learn so much.
